On Saturday August 17th, Anthony Muhs, Katie Keogler, and Chris
Woods, all members of the Catholic Ministry Team, led worship at Fan the Fire, a youth rally that took place at St .Rose of Lima, in Newtown, Connecticut. Fan the Fire hosted over 350 high school students from the Diocese of Bridgeport. The theme of the day was, “The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it,” John1:5. The theme song for the event was, “Marvelous Light” by Charlie Hall. The day started with music by the band, followed by a greeting by Rod Blessey, the youth minister at St.Rose, Newtown. Then host Brian Kissinger gave a key note address. After Kissinger’s address, the students had the option to attend one of three talks. Anthony and Katie opened each of these talks with a song. After lunch, the band led worship at adoration. Adoration was done by Father Krzysztof Kuczynski. Following adoration was free time/ small group time, where confessions were also offered. Followed by dinner. After dinner, Kissinger gave a closing address. The event ended with mass said by Fr. Bob Kinnally, the vocation director of the Diocese of Bridgeport. Everyone who attended the event enjoyed the different aspects of the day. Brian Kissinger enjoyed working with the band. He said, “ It was a great joy and gift to work with Anthony and Katie today, the way they drew the teens in with not just upbeat songs but also the worship as well. Both in and out of the liturgy, they know how to navigate Catholic prayer epically with young people. " Anthony Muhs was honored to be asked to play at the event. “It was an honor to lead worship for Fan The Fire. I was inspired by the faith of the youth and it helped me pray. God is so clearly moving in these young people of our Church and I was lifted up by their passion.”
